Hull protection at the sheer-line
The sheer-line is where the boat hits piers, locks, other boats. A rubbing strake takes the impact instead of the gelcoat — replace a €200 strake instead of a €2000 gelcoat repair. Standard equipment on most cruising boats.
Replacement for old wooden or rubber strakes
Old wooden strakes rot, old rubber strakes peel and flake. AISI 316 stainless lasts decades with zero maintenance — and the mirror polish looks better year 10 than wood looks year 1.

Installation guide

Measure your sheer-line
Measure the length of sheer-line you need to cover (port + starboard + transom). Add 10% for cutting waste. Most 8 m boats need 24–28 m total. Order in 3 m or 4 m lengths.

Pick the width by boat size
15 mm = small open boats; 18–21 mm = mid-size cruisers; 25 mm = larger cruisers; 30 mm = yachts and where impact protection matters most. Heavier = more protection but harder to bend around tight curves.

Order matching base plate (optional)
For aesthetics and easier installation, order the matching base plate (sold separately, see variant specs). The base plate provides a flat mounting surface and conceals the screws — the strake clips over it.

Dry-fit before drilling
Lay the strake against the hull, mark each pre-drilled hole onto the hull. Confirm fair curve — if the strake fights the curve, you've got the wrong width (too stiff). Bend with hand pressure; if it kinks, step down a size.

Drill and bed
Drill the hull at marked locations using the pilot drill matching the bore Ø (4.25 or 5.25 mm). Apply marine sealant (3M 4200 or A-Tec) in each hole before driving the M5 screws — water gets in if you skip this. Tighten gently — over-torque cracks gel coat.

Cap the ends with terminals
Each end of the strake should be capped with the matching terminal cap (sold separately, see variant specs). Capping prevents the sharp end edge from catching fenders, lines, or other boats.
