  • All parts hinged or captured — nothing falls overboard
  • Rotating lid doubles as a wind screen for control in breezy anchorages
  • Polished 18-9 stainless steel — corrosion-proof in salt-spray

Use cases

Anchor-out cooking
Drop hook in a quiet bay, mount the grill on the rail, grill steaks and burgers from the cockpit. Charcoal flavour beats any galley method, and the boat doesn't smell of cooking fumes inside.
Long passage break
After 12 hours under way, the smell of grilled food in a quiet anchorage is the best meal you'll eat all week. Light charcoal, lid down, 8 min preheat, 6 min steaks. Fast and not weather-dependent.
Replacing a worn galley
For boats with a minimal galley (no oven), this grill adds proper hot-cooking capability without using up cabin propane. Charcoal is cheap, easy to store dry, and never depressurises like LPG bottles do over winter.

Installation guide

1
Mount the rail bracket separately
This grill mounts in a MAGMA rail/clamp bracket (osculati-16654 for the 381 mm model) — bracket sold separately. Standard installation is a fishing rod holder (Ø 22 mm), pushpit rail or transom corner. Always mount over open water side, not over the cockpit.
2
Light the charcoal in a chimney starter
Don't use lighter fluid on a boat — fumes get trapped in the cabin and flames cause spills. A chimney starter (newspaper underneath, charcoal on top) lights cleanly in 15 min. Dump the lit coals into the grill bottom.
3
Preheat with lid down
Lid down + bottom vents 50% open = grill comes to 200°C in 8 minutes. Use the lid's rotating angle to deflect wind from the windward side. Hot grill = no sticking and proper sear marks.
4
Cook with active wind awareness
At anchor: rotate the lid every 10 minutes if the wind shifts. Underway (under sail or motor): close all vents partially — the apparent wind feeds the fire fast and burns food. Best practice: grill at anchor only.
5
Cool, ash-out, stow
Let the grill cool 30 min after cooking before touching the bottom. Empty cold ashes into a metal bucket (NOT plastic — even cool ashes can hold smoulder for hours). Cover the grill or lift it off the bracket and stow below.
