Use cases

Mooring
Long-link construction is ideal for permanent mooring connections, buoy chains and dock lines where flexibility matters more than gypsy compatibility.
Decorative use
Polished or galvanized Genovese chain is a popular choice for boat décor, railings and architectural marine projects.
Backup tender chain
A short Genovese chain works well as a tender or kedge anchor chain where windlass calibration isn't needed.

Installation guide

1
Inspect the chain
Lay the chain out and check every link for defects, weld flash or burrs. Genovese (long-link) chain is not designed for windlass gypsies.
2
Choose the right shackle
Use a shackle with breaking load matching or exceeding the chain's. Mousing the shackle pin with stainless wire prevents accidental opening.
3
Connect to the mooring point
Attach the chain to the mooring buoy, deadweight, or anchor using rated shackles. Avoid sharp bends that stress individual links.
4
Protect against chafe
Where the chain passes over a roller or hawse, fit a chafe sleeve or anti-chafe spring to extend service life.
