Installation guide

1
Verify gypsy compatibility
Check that your windlass gypsy matches the chain's calibration (DIN766 or ISO) and link dimensions (P × B mm). Mismatched gypsies cause skipping under load.
2
Pre-feed the chain
Lay the chain out straight in a clean area to avoid kinks. Inspect every metre for defects, weld flash or burrs before loading.
3
Connect to the rope rode
Use a chain-to-rope splice or a calibrated swivel (e.g. Osculati 01.230) sized to match the chain. Ensure the connection passes smoothly through the gypsy.
4
Load into the locker
Feed the chain through the bow roller and gypsy with the windlass at low speed. Allow it to fall freely into the chain locker — never force it.
5
Set the bitter end
Secure the bitter end to a strong point in the locker with a nylon line short enough to be cut quickly in an emergency.
