Ergonomic helmsman seat with flip-up bolster — the bolster folds up so you can stand against the seat at the helm, or folds down for a fully padded sit-down position. The same seat for two driving postures.
RM52 is the Osculati series — sized for boats 5.5–9 m, mounted on a standard pedestal or directly to a console base.
Two ways to buy:
- Padded & upholstered (€384,50) — ready to fit. Dark blue soft vinyl, diamond-stitched centre, beige double-stitch contrast. Drop-in solution.
- Padded core only (€294,50) — same seat, no fabric. Choose this if you want to upholster in matching boat fabric or have a trim shop finish it. Save €90 if you have access to a local upholsterer.
Both versions share the same core construction:
- Rotary-moulded HDPE plastic core — high impact resistance, no rust
- High-density foam padding — supports long helm watches without fatigue
- Lumbar relief hole — pressure release for the lower back

Confirm boat size and post diameter
This seat is designed for 5.5–9 m boats. Standard Osculati helm posts are Ø73 mm — measure your existing post or pedestal before ordering a new one separately.

Mount the pedestal or base
If installing a new helm position, fix the pedestal or console base to a structural member using through-bolts and backing plates. Bed each fastener in marine sealant.

Drop the seat on
Lower the seat onto the post. The seat swivels freely once seated — set bolster position before tightening any swivel lock.

Set the flip-up bolster
Bolster down = full padded sit (long passages, calm water). Bolster up = lean-stand with thigh support (planing speed, tight turns). Toggle with one hand without leaving the helm.

Test seat travel and visibility
Slide the seat fore-aft (if pedestal has a slider) to align with the wheel. Confirm sightline over the console at both bolster positions.
