SOLTIGA 3 aluminium replacement propeller for Volvo Penta SX and OMC Cobra SX sterndrives. 3-blade, 19-spline hub matches the standard OEM propshaft.

Use cases
Replacement for damaged or worn props
Aluminium props absorb impact better than stainless. After hitting a submerged log or rocky bottom, replacing the prop is often cheaper than repairing — and a new prop restores lost performance.
Tuning for load or speed
Same engine, different boating: a tow boat needs lower pitch (17") for grunt to pull skiers out of the water, a cruising boat wants higher pitch (21") for fuel-efficient cruise. Carrying a spare prop in a different pitch lets you tune to the day.
Twin counter-rotating sterndrives
Twin Volvo SX setups use one right-hand + one left-hand prop to cancel torque steer. Make sure to order the correct rotation for the engine you're replacing.

Confirm your engine and rotation
This propeller fits Volvo Penta SX (SX-A, SX-MX, SX-M) and OMC Cobra SX sterndrives. Check the rotation — single-engine installs are Right-hand; only order Left-hand if your boat has twin counter-rotating engines and your engine is the counter-rotating one.

Choose the right pitch
Run the boat with the current prop at WOT (wide-open throttle). If RPM is below the engine's WOT range → drop one pitch size (e.g. 19 → 17) to gain RPM. If RPM is above the range → go up one pitch (e.g. 19 → 21) to reduce. Each inch of pitch ≈ 200 RPM.

Remove the old propeller
Tilt the drive up, lock the propshaft (use a block of wood between the blade and anti-cavitation plate). Remove the cotter pin, prop nut, then slide off the washer, thrust hub, and old propeller. Inspect splines for wear.

Fit the new propeller
Apply marine grease to the propshaft splines (prevents seizing for next removal). Slide on the new propeller, replace thrust hub and washer. Torque the prop nut to manufacturer spec (Volvo SX: 35–55 ft-lb), install a new cotter pin.

Sea-trial and re-check
On the first run, monitor engine temperature and WOT RPM. If RPM is still off-target, return to step 2 and try the next pitch up or down. Aim to land in the upper half of the engine's WOT band.
