Use cases

Hand-pump intake protection
Stops debris from entering the pump body and damaging the impeller — common with WHALE MKV, Flipper MK4 and similar piston pumps.
Foot pump strainer
Equally suited for foot pumps such as WHALE Baby Foot MK2 and Gusher MK3 — strain water and hold prime in one part.
Integrated check valve saves space
Built-in non-return foot valve eliminates the need for a separate check valve, simplifying installation in tight bilge or galley spaces.

Installation guide

1
Identify pump intake
Locate the suction-side intake of your hand pump or foot pump. The strainer is designed for vertical descending pipes.
2
Match the mouth size
This strainer fits 25 mm or 38 mm hose connections. Verify your pump's intake size before ordering.
3
Insert into the pipe
Slide the strainer onto the bottom of the suction pipe — the non-return foot valve faces down toward the water.
4
Secure with a hose clamp
Lock the connection with a stainless steel hose clamp to prevent air leaks that could break pump priming.
5
Test the foot valve
Pump a few strokes to verify water lifts smoothly. Stop pumping — the foot valve should hold the column of water in the pipe, ready for the next cycle.
