Combine this frame with cushions of your choice — Osculati's RM52 / H52 / H54 padded seats, or custom upholstery for boat-specific fabric. Frame is the structural base; the seat 'character' comes from your cushion choice.
Replacement frame for damaged seats
If your existing helm seat's plastic shell is cracked or UV-damaged but the cushions are still good, this is the drop-in structural replacement. Same brass-insert pattern as the most common Osculati helm seat lineage.
Trim-shop custom builds
Trim shops use this frame to build to-order helm seats for refit projects — frame is generic, the upholstery is custom to match the boat. Faster turnaround than building a seat from raw foam + plywood.

Installation guide

Plan your build — frame + cushions + pedestal
This product is the FRAME only. You'll need: (1) this frame, (2) cushions/bolster (e.g. osculati-45865 RM52, or a custom upholsterer's set), (3) a helm pedestal post sized for your boat (sold separately, Ø73 mm standard).

Mount the pedestal first
Fix the helm pedestal base to a structural member (not deck core) using through-bolts and backing plates. Bed each fastener in marine sealant. Pedestal vertical or use a slider/swivel base — your call by ergonomics.

Drop the frame on the pedestal
The frame's bottom socket fits standard Ø73 mm pedestal posts. Lower the frame on, swivel-test the rotation, confirm sightline over the helm at your normal driving posture before any cushion install.

Attach cushions to the brass inserts
The frame has brass threaded inserts in the base — these are the structural mounts for cushions. Don't drill new holes in the HDPE shell (weakens the structure). Use M6 stainless bolts through cushion brackets into the inserts.

Test before adding bolster
Sit, recline, lean — make sure the seat angle and depth feel right with bare cushions. If you're adding a flip-up bolster (e.g. RM52), test that the bolster clears the dashboard at both up and down positions before committing.
